Going the Extra Mile

A group of friends battled the rain and snow in January to each cover 50 miles, raising £855 for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice.

Anne Marie Jackson, Anuszka Ransley, Geraldine Ward and Sheilagh Lord decided to take on the lockdown challenge to show their support for the hospice during the COVID-19 pandemic, and say thank you for the expert care and support provided to many of their friends and loved ones over the years.

Mark Welch used his spare time in lockdown to run 100km in January, raising over £1,000 to support our vital work.

Mark was compelled to fundraise as one of his best friends, Sam, works at the hospice as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine. He said: “We’ve been friends since we were 11 and I know how incredibly hard he and his colleagues have been working during the coronavirus pandemic to support people.”
