So What Can We Do From The Comfort of Our Own House This Christmas?

Create and Learn Create and Learn Christmas – from the Royal Opera House, to your house! Unleash your creativity with our new series of home crafting activities, inspired by The Royal Ballet’s classic production of The Nutcracker. Devised in collaboration with ROH partner artists, these fun activities are perfect for getting creative during the festive period. Aimed at enthusiasts of all ages, the activities invite you to explore the magical world of The Nutcracker by using recycled materials easily found around the home, helped by our clear, step-by-step instructions and ‘how-to’ videos. Our five new resources are free to access and do not require you to login.

Just like Dorothy, we might have been whisked away to a new reality we barely recognise, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be together at Christmas. Dial in to a brand new adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with all the storytelling, songs, magic and togetherness that make a Creation Christmas show a tradition worth clinging on to. For the first time you’ll be able join the same audience on Christmas Eve as your auntie in Australia or the cousins in Canada. This year we’re choosing to fill your homes with festive cheer, reaching out to more people than ever. Our online performance won’t exclude anyone who’s shielding, or ask you to take any risks to enjoy some festive fun. Featuring the usual Creation Christmas team, live matinee and evening performances will take place online from 19 December – 3 January. Tickets are £30 per device, and if you book the same show as someone you know you’ll be able to spot them in the audience (Christmas hats optional!). Special appearance by iconic performer, Le Gateau Chocolat, as the Good Witch.
Jack and the Beanstalk After almost 30 years of staging pantos in Coventry, Iain Lauchlan couldn’t stand the thought of a dame-free December. So while the Belgrade theatre had to postpone its festive spectacular to 2021 he dusted off a frock and made a film with regular sidekick Craig Hollingsworth and, thanks to a pair of socially distanced actors, an extraordinarily long pantomime cow. Until 31 December.
