Ardington arts are running a range of art talks -online.

ONLINE ArtTalk - Paintings of Winter - Wed 9th December 2020 2pm 15 £15.00. In this 60 minute talk, Martin picks a personal miscellany of paintings that define the season. Some household names as well as lesser known works throughout the ages.
ONLINE ArtTalk - Paintings of the Festive Season - Wed 16th December 2020 2pm£15.00. As 2020 draws to a close, Martin picks a number of works in this 60 minute ArtTalk that celebrate the festive season in all its wonder.
ONLINE ArtTalk - Adventures in Goldwork - Thurs 17th December 2020 2pm 15 £15.00. Join Hanny for an insightful look at her contemporary take on the centuries old artform of Goldwork embroidery. This 60 minute ArtTalk will provide an insight into Hanny's journey as a goldwork embroiderer. From discovering her love for embroidery by accident while living in a Steiner community at 23, to achieving her dream of studying at the Royal School of Needlework, and the adventures her love of embroidery has taken her on since.
ONLINE ArtTalk - Christmas Customs: why we do the things we do (or did) - Fri 18th December 2020 2pm15 £15.00.In this 60 minute ArtTalk Sharn takes us from turkey to Santa himself, relax into Christmas and discover the history behind some of Christmas traditions - learning how these have evolved over time. ONLINE ArtTalk - British Art between the Wars - Wed 10th February 2021 2pm 5 £15.00. British art flourished during the 1920’s and 30’s and it once again developed a unique position in the world. This 60 minute talk focuses on both well known artists and those whose works have been neglected.
ONLINE ArtTalk - Playing with Knives: the origins of paper cutting - Fri 12th February 2021 2pm 15 £15.00. Our resident paper cutter Christine Green talks us through the fascinating and intricate world of paper cutting. The 60 minute talk will look at the diverse array of different paper cutting styles and techniques from China to Poland, Mexico to Germany. We will also look at the work of some contemporary paper cutters including Sarah Morpeth, Rob Ryan and Karen Bit Vejle and their approaches to the craft.
ONLINE ArtTalk - The Life of Paul Gauguin - Wed 3rd March 2021 2pm £15.00. ​Few painters have lived a life such as the 19th Century French painter Paul Gauguin; his revolutionary style and influence is incalculable. In this 60 minute talk Martin uses his many original photos from works in national collections tracing Gauguin's work from Pont-Aven to Tahiti. If you love colour this talk is for you!

ONLINE ArtTalk - My Take on Patchwork: Bust the Rules and Get Creative - Fri 5th March 2021 2pm £15.00. This 60 minute talk will look at her inspiration; the Quilts of Gees Bend, freestyle quilts, and Japanese Boro work. She will also touch on the origins of patchwork, recycling as much as possible, and not worrying about perfectly mitred corners. This talk is less about fat quarters and jelly rolls, more about the joys of car boot finds and playing with fabric.
ONLINE ArtTalk - The Artists of Collioure and Fauvism - Wed 10th March 2021 2pm 15 £15.00. The Fauvist artists, who painted at Collioure, produced some of modernism’s finest and most memorable art. In this 60 minute talk Martin looks particularly at the contribution of Henri Matisse and his developing style.

Following on from The Classics; An Introduction earlier in the year, this two-part series sees Martin provide an introduction to the life and works of two more of the best known artists in history.

In this 60 minute talk Martin explores the metropolis, and its people, against the backdrop of its revolutionary architecture. You will get a feel for New York City through the eyes of artists who lived and worked there until our own times. This is the story of a city "that never sleeps."
