Micklems Farm Workshops
Micklems Farm is a unique venue. A 17th century grade 2 listed property surrounded by characterful farm buildings set in mature gardens and overlooking open countryside – a wonderful environment to inspire creativity.
Workshops have been running here for 5 years and we are constantly adding new subjects to the curriculum. Despite its rural setting, Micklems Farm is easy to get to, situated between Maidenhead and Reading, with access to both the M4 and M40 only minutes away. We have plenty of onsite parking right by the studios.
Our team of experienced, enthusiastic tutors will make you feel welcome and guide you through each stage of the workshop or course. Most workshops are designed for beginners and where more experience is required, the workshops are indicated for intermediate or advanced students when booking – so you will never feel out of your comfort zone! Our main aim is to encourage creativity, promote confidence and provide students with a relaxed environment in which to meet like minded people and enjoy themselves!
Our studios are light filled and spacious, providing all the equipment and materials you will need. The studios are varying in size to accommodate different numbers of students. All of the studios are also available for teaching artists to hire for their own classes if required. Complimentary tea, freshly made coffee and biscuits are available throughout the day. In the spring and summer we have seating areas outside in which to sit, enjoy the garden and meet other students.
SAFETY IN MIND by Micklem’s Farm
We have spent the last few weeks implementing various measures to make our studio as safe as possible for our students and tutors on their return in September.
With just under 1000 sq ft of floor space, a new large demo area with a wall mounted monitor will allow students to be socially distanced during tutor demonstrations
and our ten work stations are now set further apart with more open flow areas in the centre of the studio.
We have a central hands-free hand sanitising station and our own fogging system using anti-viral disinfectant (tested against Coronavirus).
We are providing disposable cutlery at the tea and coffee station and paper hand towels for hand washing.
We will be asking students to bring their own mugs and face masks.
As far as the weather allows, the large patio doors onto the garden will be kept open and we will have tables and chairs for eating lunch outside.
We hope that these measures will reassure you that we have done as much as we can to ensure your safety when you are with us again.
Micklem’s Farm Flowers
They have been growing flowers at Micklems Farm for many years and have recently joined the co-operative of British flower growers ‘Flowers from the Farm’.
They offer cut flowers to local flower lovers and as well as a bespoke bouquet service, they offer you the opportunity to come and pick your own flowers,
which they make up into a hand tied bouquet. Or why not choose the afternoon tea option, to be enjoyed while they make up your bouquet.
A friend has described this process as ‘painting with flowers’ – selecting colours, textures and forms which go together. All flowers are seasonal.
